SSW 100 Index Drops 2.8% in July

The SSW 100 Index dropped 2.8% in July going from 236 to 229. The major indexes were also down for the month, but only the S&P 500 experienced a more significant drop falling 3.2% from 1,503 to 1,455 (171 to 165 on a comparable index basis). The NASDAQ was off 2.2% moving from 2,603 to 2,546 (195 to 191 on a comparable index basis) and the Dow dropped the least, and was only off 1.5% from 13,409 to 13,212 (161 to 158 on a comparable index basis).

Decliners led gainers by almost a two to one margin at 65 versus 35. Six of the gainers posted better than 10% gains, but on the negative side, fourteen stocks fell by more than 10%. Of the latter, six were off by more than 15%.

Up by more than 10% were:

Wireless Facilities Inc. (WFII) up 33% to $2.23
First Solar, Inc. (FSLR) up 26% to $112.57
Juniper Networks, Inc (JNPR) up 19% to $29.96
Cubic Corp. (CUB) up 17% to $23.06
Shaw Group Inc. (SGR) up 15% to $53.22
Smith & Wesson Holding Corp. (SWHC) up 12% to $18.80

Dropping by more than 15% were:

Entrust Inc. (ENTU) down 31% to $2.81
T R C COS INC (TRR) down 26% to $10.93
AVANT Immunotherapeutics Inc. (AVAN) down 22% to $0.65
Allied Defense Group Inc. (ADG) down 19% to $6.24
Hollis-Eden Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (HEPH) down 19% to $1.66
L-1 Identity Solutions Inc. (ID) down 16% to $17.14
