Panasonic System Networks Company of America has enhanced the intelligent
functionality of the i-PRO SmartHD WJ-NV200 Network Disk Recorder
with an expansion kit that adds age and gender estimation, visitor
counting, and other functions to the NVR's embedded face matching
technology. The i-PRO SmartHD WJ-NVF20 advanced intelligence expansion
kit enables new security and business management functionality to
be added to installed WJ-NV200 recorders using a firmware update
based on an installation key number. In new deployments, the combination
of the WJ-NV200 NVR and WJ-NVF20 expansion kit offers a powerful
range of intelligent video functionality at a cost roughly equivalent
to competitors' standard 16-input DVRs or NVRs.

Mr. Steve Dentinger, Director of Marketing, Keyscan Access Control
Systems, told us, "Many end-users are guarding their capital
expenditures and with staffing levels at an all time low employers
are seeking ways to optimize staff productivity and stay focused on
the core competencies of the business. Centrally Managed Access Control
addresses may of the concerns of business owners today; they don't
need an access control administrator, they don't need an onsite computer,
they don't need to manage/maintain the access control database, they
don't need to perform software updates, all this and if they desire,
they can lock/unlock doors, run reports, add or delete access permissions
all via an internet connection using their smartphone, iPad, or laptop
without any special software.

Dr. Juergen Pampus, VP Sales & Marketing, Cognitec Systems,
said "One of our partners in Canada has introduced video cameras
in several stores of a large retail chain. These cameras provide
input to our software which constantly scans the video for known
shoplifters whose photos have been stored in a watch list database.
Once identified, an alert is raised to the store manager. Another
Canadian partner has deployed a similar solution in a number of
casinos in Ontario where problem gamblers are automatically identified."

Yvonne Schwemmer, Senior Product Marketing Manager, Digital Systems,
Pelco by Schneider Electric, told us, "We are pleased to announce
the introduction of our new Digital Sentry hardware platform for
video security and video management. We've done a complete makeover
of the Digital Sentry hardware line. At the core of the new Digital
Sentry is a brand new Network Video Recorder that optimized to deliver
the essential hardware support for the DS NVs video management software
(VMS) without the extra cost or risk of integrating hardware and
software. The new DS NVR offers tremendous installation flexibility
for customers making the transition from analog to IP video security.
Capable of supporting up to 128 combined IP and analog video streams,
it can be deployed solely as a network video recorder, as a digital
video recorder (DVR), or as a hybrid NVR. The result is a video
management solution that's simplified, optimized, and more powerful
than ever."

Mr. James McGowan, V.P. of Sales and Marketing, Videx, told us,
"Videx is known for introducing revolutionary technology and
innovative products to the security market; the CyberLock product
line is a prime example of that. If you have ever spent much time
looking for access control products you will find systems that are
fundamentally the same (i.e. presenting a RFID card or PIN to access
secure locations). Basically, there is a passive key opening a smart
lock and in order for that lock to work the door needs to be wired,
which isn't cheap.
CyberLock is different in two fundamental areas. The lock requires
no power or battery; instead it is energized when the key touches
the lock. Secondly, the intelligent key carries the user's access
schedule so it knows what locks it can and cannot access. Essentially,
Videx has reversed the concept of the smart lock. This enables us
to produce a very small electronic lock cylinder that can be installed
in existing door hardware.
