SSW 100 Index Up 2.3% in November

The SSW 100 Index posted a strong 2.3% gain in November moving from 212 to 217. It trailed the NASDAQ which rose 2.7% from 2,367 to 2,432 (177 to 182 on a comparable index basis). The S&P 500 and the Dow were both up, but by a lot less than the former. The S&P 500 which was up 1.6% from 1,378 to 1,401 (157 to 159 on a comparable index basis) and Dow increased 1.2% from 12,081 to 12,222 (145 to 147 on a comparable index basis).

Gainers outpaced decliners by 63 to 37 and seventeen of the gainers were up by more than 10% with five increasing by more than 20%. Only seven of the decliners were down by more than 10%.

Posting better than 10% gains were:

Ceradyne Inc. (CRDN) up 28% to $52.77
Calgon Carbon Corp. (CCC) up 27% to $5.85
VeriSign Inc. (VRSN) up 26% to $26.09
Juniper Networks, Inc (JNPR) up 24% to $21.29
American Science & Engineering Inc. (ASEI) up 21% to $63.44

Dropping more than 10% were:

Acambis plc (ACAM) down 27% to $4.03
EFJ Inc. (EFJI) down 24% to $5.60
Hollis-Eden Pharmaceuticals Inc. (HEPH) down 23% to $5.47
CA, Inc. (CA) down 12% to $21.70
Atmel Corp. (ATML) down 12% to $5.05
Nuance Communications, Inc. (NUAN) down 11% to $10.27
Secure Computing Corp. (SCUR) down 10% to $6.44
