Panasonic Security, Gemalto, WAVE Systems, Abiquo, and Alpha Technologies Discuss Security Solutions in SecurityStockWatch.com Interviews

"Our new i-PRO SmartHD network cameras feature high-definition (HD) image quality and exquisite color reproduction using lower bandwidth. The six new models also incorporate the Panasonic UniPhier System LSI chip (H.264 high-profile format) to combine high-definition video and real-time video streaming (up to 30 inches per second) at a lower data size. A new 1.3-megapixel MOS image sensor enables high sensitivity (0.3 lux in color) and lower power consumption. The camera series includes both IP box cameras and fixed IP domes, including models that are vandal-resistant and meet international IP66 standards for dust and moisture resistance. The i-PRO SmartHD cameras are capable of detecting faces automatically, even in high-contrast lighting situations, and when paired with our NV200 recorder, enable real-time face matching based on previously analyzed images." These are among the highlights in our thought leadership interview with Mr. Bill Taylor, President, Panasonic System Networks Company of America.

Wave Systems recently announced that Northern Health and Social Care Trust of Northern Ireland has deployed self-encrypting drives (SEDs) managed by Wave's EMBASSY® software to protect sensitive and confidential personal health information (PHI) stored on 600 laptops today (rising to 700 laptops within the next nine months). Despite access to more readily available software-based encryption with lower upfront costs, Northern Trust determined that SEDs could be deployed faster -- and were more cost-effective over the long term.

Wave Systems also announced this quarter a $3.5 million agreement with BASF SE to provide the leading chemical company with Wave's EMBASSY® client, server software and maintenance services for its new global fleet of personal computers.

BASF, headquartered in Ludwigshafen, Germany, ordered both software licenses and accompanying maintenance agreements for Wave's flagship EMBASSY® Remote Administration Server (ERAS). ERAS gives IT the power to turn on each self-encrypting drive (SED) in seconds (as opposed to up to several hours per PC with software-based encryption), set security policies and provide detailed event logs to demonstrate that the data was fully encrypted if a laptop goes missing.

The order involves tens of thousands of ERAS licenses, maintenance orders for 2011 and additional maintenance orders for all of 2012. Wave anticipates fulfilling the order in the second calendar quarter and expects to record approximately $2.8 M of license sales and this year's maintenance as revenue ratably over the remainder of 2011, with 2012 maintenance of approximately $700,000 to be recognized ratably over the full year of 2012.
